Summary

Ollama 0.9.5 introduces a native macOS app with faster startup, network exposure capabilities, and customizable model storage directories. It also raises the minimum macOS requirement to version 12.

⚠️ Breaking Changes

  • macOS version support has changed: Ollama now requires macOS 12 (Monterey) or newer. Users on older versions will need to upgrade their OS to continue using the application.

Migration Steps

  1. Download and run the new installer for macOS (Ollama.dmg) or Windows (OllamaSetup.exe).
  2. If on macOS, ensure your operating system is updated to at least version 12 (Monterey).
  3. To move models to an external drive, configure the new model directory setting in the application.

✨ New Features

  • Network Exposure: Ollama can now be exposed on the network to allow access from other devices.
  • Custom Model Directory: Added the ability to modify the directory where models are stored, enabling use of external drives.
  • Native macOS App: The macOS application is now a native app, resulting in a smaller installation footprint and faster startup times.
  • Added NativeMind to Community Integrations.

🐛 Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where the ollama CLI would not be installed automatically on macOS startup.
  • Fixed an issue where files in the ollama-darwin.tgz archive were not properly notarized.
